Runway Contaminants
Nova supports several static and animated runway contaminants. The contaminant effect will be placed on all database features encoded as runway or tarmac. When active, the effect is globally applied to all airfields.
The animated contaminants, blowing snow and blowing sand, respond to wind direction and speed.

CIGI Control of Runway Contaminants
Nova’s runway contaminants have traditionally been controlled through the Weather Control packet, but as the list of available contaminants expanded the Severity field’s 3 bit size became insufficient to send all values. Nova now supports the Terrestrial Surface Conditions Control Packet for controlling the runway contaminants. The Weather Control packet is still supported but only for values up to 7.
